About Young Diplomats of Canada

Young Diplomats of Canada (YDC) is a non-partisan, non-profit, youth-led organization that equips and empowers young leaders to contribute to and participate in global decision-making spaces. Working locally and globally, YDC aims to be a trusted partner in supporting Canadian youth to access international decision making spaces, with the goal of meaningfully shaping both global and domestic public policy. Through these efforts, YDC hopes to mainstream youth engagement in impactful policy discussion.

YDC began as a handful of motivated young people who organized Canada’s delegations to the youth summits of the G7 and G20. Years later, our volunteer team has grown to nearly two dozen youth responsible for numerous observational and advocacy delegations to major institutions and alongside key meetings. A decade in, our efforts were officially recognized when YDC was accredited with consultative status to the United Nations Economic and Social Council in 2018.
